About Prague 3

Prague 3 lies just east of the city centre. It covers most of Žižkov and parts of Vinohrady, Vysočany and Strašnice, and its boundaries have not changed since it was created in 1960. Two of Prague’s most visible landmarks are here: the National Monument on Vítkov hill and the 216-metre Žižkov Television Tower. The large Olšany Cemetery and the New Jewish Cemetery, where Franz Kafka is buried, take up much of the eastern part of the district.

The clinics we list here are mostly small and medium-sized local practices rather than large international clinics.

Where the clinics are

The clinics we list in Prague 3 fall into two groups:

  • Vinohrady side (south): along Vinohradská and the streets around the Flora and Jiřího z Poděbrad metro stations, including Jičínská, Slezská and Velehradská.
  • Žižkov (north): on residential streets such as Seifertova and Hartigova, and towards the cemeteries, where the main transport is the tram rather than the metro.

The street names may not match the neighbourhood name you expect. Part of Vinohrady is in Prague 3, and part of Žižkov is in Prague 8 and Prague 10. We list clinics by administrative district, checked on a map.

Getting to a dentist in Prague 3

  • Metro line A runs under the south of the district, with stations at Jiřího z Poděbrad, Flora and Želivského. It is about five minutes from Jiřího z Poděbrad to Muzeum in the centre.
  • Trams cover the parts the metro doesn’t reach. Lines run along Vinohradská (stops include Flora and Jiřího z Poděbrad) and through Žižkov along Seifertova (stops include Lipanská) towards the Vozovna Žižkov depot.
  • Parts of Žižkov are on the slopes of Vítkov hill. If you are walking from the metro, allow extra time.

If you need step-free access, ask the clinic. Many practices are in older apartment buildings, and not all have a lift.

Choosing a dentist in Prague 3

  • Languages. Most clinics in Prague 3 work mainly in Czech, and fewer of them confirm English speaking staff than clinics in Prague 1 or 2. If you don’t speak Czech, check the languages on each profile. You could also look at clinics in neighbouring Prague 2, a short tram ride away.
  • Insurance. Several Prague 3 clinics say they have contracts with Czech public health insurers, including VZP. This matters if you are in the public system, or if you are an EU visitor using the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), which is only accepted at contracted dentists.
  • New patients. Local practices fill up, but some clinics here say they are accepting new patients. That status changes often, so check it when you call.
  • Evening appointments. A few clinics stay open until 20:00 on some weekdays. The profiles show the exact hours.

Emergency dentist in Prague 3

Some Prague 3 clinics say they offer urgent appointments for acute pain during opening hours. Use the emergency filter above, and call first. Out of hours, Prague’s public dental emergency services treat patients without registration. The nearest to Prague 3 are in Prague 1, on Spálená street and at Na Františku, both reachable by metro or tram in under 20 minutes. There is a standard fee of CZK 90. See emergency dentist in Prague. For severe swelling or difficulty breathing or swallowing, call 155 or 112.

Living in Prague 3

If you have moved to Žižkov or Vinohrady, registering with a nearby dentist makes regular check-ups and urgent visits much easier.
